Mrs. Mable Darlene Clay

Mable Darlene Shrewsbury Clay, 66, of Georgetown, KY, formerly of Stephenson, WV passed away Monday, October 5, 2020.

Born May 7, 1954 in Mullens, WV; she was a daughter of the late Grover Grant Shrewsbury and the late Delois Aylene McKinney Shrewsbury.

Darlene was a former member of the Sam Gap Old Regular Baptist Church; she loved collecting dolls and playing cards with her granddaughter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Adam Scott Clay; two sisters, Alma Shrewsbury and Sada Steele; and a brother, Douglas Shrewsbury.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 50 years, Edward Clay; a son, Chris Clay; three grandchildren, Michalee, Brittaney, and Corey and wife, Allison; two great grandchildren, Bentley and Dylan; sisters, Vada Phillips, Frances Canada, Lena Buchanan, Shirley Bishop, and Goldie Shrewsbury; brother, Kyle Shrewsbury and wife, Drema; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Services to celebrate the life of Darlene Shrewsbury Clay will be held 1:00PM Saturday, October 10, 2020 at the Sand Gap Old Regular Baptist Church with Pastor Russell McCoy officiating. Nephews will be serving as pallbearers. Following the service, Darlene will be laid to rest at the George Washington Shrewsbury Cemetery on Barkers Ridge.

Friends may gather with the family from noon until time of the service Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations of sympathy be made to the Sand Gap Old Regular Baptist Church in Darlene’s honor.

Everyone in attendance must have facial coverings and social distancing must be observed as mandated by the Governor of the state of WV.
