Mary Cook

Mary Cook, 92, of Sophia, Wv passed away November 22nd, 2025. Born in Pulaski, Va to parents Tim and Bessie Cox, as a mother herself she lived her life in service of her family and as a Baptist, in the service of the Lord.

Mary will be remembered as a great storyteller, game enthusiast, and the type of woman that no matter what made things happen when they needed to happen. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren will remember her working on her crochet, completing word searches, and her many puzzles all with the distinct sounds of the Game Show Network playing in the background.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Edgar Cook Jr.; sisters Janice and “Tootsie”; and brothers Silas, Albert, and Edgar.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sisters Myrtle Cook and Sue Whitt, brother Paul Cox, daughters Debra Hughes (Lewis), Tammy Frey (Bill), Sharon Adkins (Roger), and Brenda Lester; grandchildren Kim, Carla, Lewis, Brandi, Casey, Caitlyn, Tony, Sandy, and Kevin; great-grandchildren Kaileigh, Ronnie, Bill, Alicia, Braxton, Kenzie, Lexi, Ember, Nathaniel, Matthew, Cheyanne, Charlie, Kevin Jr., Chelsea, Adam, Leslie, Michael, Trinity, Isiah, and Gabriel; great-great-grandchildren Logan, Parker, Shelby, Skylar, Josie, Stacy, Tyler, and Caspian; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Services by Reverend Denny Hughes and Pastor Joe Cadle will be held at 12pm on Friday November 28th 2025 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are invited to gather for an hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens to follow.
