Mavis Lorene Bays Garrett

Born October 28, 1936 in Winding Gulf, West Virginia, she is the daughter of the late Alva Curtis Bays and Eula Hazel Burnette Bays

She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Prosperity. Mavis was a member of Young at Heart group in her church. She enjoyed long drives, hotdogs at Hinton Dairy Queen, Nascar and being with her family and church family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, infant sister, Lois Bays; brother, Roger Bays & wife Lori, Wesley Bays; sister Mary Bays; step son Jimmy Garrett.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Jimmie Joe Garrett; son Mark Garrett and partner Larry Harrah of Port St. Lucie, Florida; step son, Shannon Garrett and wife Lori of Beaver; daughters, Sharon Eddleman of Mt. Hope, Brenda Adkins and husband Wayne of Fairdale and Lisa Goss and husband J.D. of Beckley; brothers, Lowell Bays and wife Elizabeth of Stockbridge, Georgia, Paul Bays and wife Nina of Coal City, Darrell Bays and wife Sandy of Elk Mills, Maryland, Kenneth Bays and wife Diane of Riverton, West Virginia, and Larry Bays and wife Kathy of Inwood, West Virginia; sisters, Janet Romeo of Beckley, Shirley Williams of Davie, Florida, Elva Ragland of Charlotte, North Carolina, Wanda Joseph and husband Bob of Berlin, Maryland, Carol Fazzio of Berlin, Maryland, Elizabeth Bays of Berlin, Maryland, and Twila Walker and husband David of Crab Orchard; grandchildren, Shane Daugherty, Amy Mills, Carrie Neely, Christopher Ward, Brandi Goss and Sarah Garrett; 10 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Friends may gather with the family at Blue Ridge Funeral Home on Saturday, October 10th from 3:00-4:00pm.

Services will be held on Saturday, October 10th at 4:00pm with Pastor Larry Halsey and Pastor Matthew Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, West Virginia with friends and family to serve as pallbearers.
