Born on November 10, 1976, in Beckley, Rachel was the daughter of Ed and Jo Adams. She was a proud graduate of Pineville High School, Class of 1995, and spent 13 years working at the Carl Larson Cancer Center, where she became not only a dedicated member of the team but also a beloved part of a second family. Her spirit, boundless energy, and her remarkable bravery through life’s challenges will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
Rachel married the love of her life, Kevin Stafford, on February 14, 2002, and together they raised their son, Cameron Stafford, and Rachel’s bonus daughter, Brittany Stafford. Her love for her children was unmatched, and she poured her heart into giving them everything they wanted and more.
Rachel had a larger-than-life personality that radiated warmth. She was known for her kindness, her deep love for everyone she met, and her ability to make each person feel special. One of her trademark phrases was always “Love you, bye,” a simple but heartfelt way to remind everyone of her love. Her laughter and her love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Rachel is survived by her husband, Kevin Stafford; son, Cameron Stafford; bonus daughter, Brittany Stafford; parents, Ed and Jo Adams of Beckley, WV; sister, Sherri Arthur (Jack Arthur) of Beckley; nieces, Jenna Sexton (Keith Sexton) and Ally Arthur; mother-in-law, Carol Stafford; and her beloved pet and companion, Baxter. She also leaves behind countless family members and friends who will cherish her memory forever.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rebekah Hope Meadows; father-in-law, James “Poppy” Stafford; paternal grandparents, Evelyn and Jack Adams; maternal grandparents, Evelyn and Stanley Hamrick; cousin, Marty Dodson; and childhood best friend, Kara Lea Stewart.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. El Harake and the team at the Carl Larson Cancer Center for their exceptional care and support, as well as to the teams at Fresenius of Beckley and Raleigh General Hospital for their compassion.
A special memorial service for Rachel will be on Saturday, January 25th, 2025 at 6PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Friends may gather one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Ronald McDonald Foundation in Norfolk, VA, Operation Smile, or the American Cancer Society in honor of Rachel Ann Stafford.
Rachel’s legacy of love, joy, and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew her.
