Rev. Ronald C Adkins

Ronald took pride in being pastor at Old Grove Chapel, in which he was the founder. For over fifty years, he ministered on both TV and radio, being heard on WWYO, WJLS and WOAY. He also ministered on Living Faith TV out of Abington, VA. In his early years, he saw the vision of being able to spread the gospel worldwide. When Ronald was home, he enjoyed farming, visiting, working with his cattle, gardening, and sharing joy and laughter with his family.

Ronald was also proud to have served in the US Navy during WWII, where he served on the USS Klondike in the South Pacific. After his service, Ronald also worked for Virginia Railroad, in coal mining and at a service station.

In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his son, Lynnie Adkins as well as 12 brothers and sisters.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of seventy-two years, Irene Sparks Adkins of Crab Orchard; sons, Donald Adkins and wife Susan, Greg Adkins and wife Rhonda all of Crab Orchard; daughter, Patty Hickman of Beckley, 9 grandchildren: Christopher, Jared, and Brittany Adkins, Ann Simpson, Jennifer Erwin, Laura Coalson, Summer Buchanan, Adam Hatcher, and Jordan Dunlap. Ronald’s family was also blessed with twelve great-grandchildren.

Friends may gather with the family Monday, May 2, 2016 from 6pm – 9pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11am, Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the funeral home, with Rev. Ronnie Miller and Danny Gilfilen officiating.

Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens and will include military honors conducted by the Wyoming County Honor Guard. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Old Grove Chapel (822 Glenview Rd Crab Orchard, WV 25827), or Hospice of Southern WV (PO Box 1972 Beckley, WV 25801)
