

Ronald Lee “Junk” Snuffer, 77, of Beckley, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 following a long illness. Born August 21, 1937 in Midway; he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ira Snuffer of Coal City. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ira Snuffer, Jr.; step-brother, Paul Callahan; two sisters, Glenna Jean Hardin and Vienna Smith; a step-sister, Rita Callahan.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 54 years, Shirley Wallace Snuffer of Beckley; a daughter, Regina Leigh May and husband, Charlie; two grandchildren Brittany and Jeremy May all of Kingsport, TN; a sister-in-law, Dixie Snuffer of Coal City; sister-in-law, Norma Thompson and husband, Tommy of Mineral, VA; sister-in-law, Linda Davis of Woodbridge, VA; brother-in-law, Anthony Wallace of Manassas, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
Ronald was a member of the Skelton Freewill Baptist Church for 33 years where he served as Sunday School Superintendant, Deacon, and member of the church choir. Ronald graduated from Stoco High School in 1955. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy, and was a coal miner for 17 ½ years, he was a member of the UMWA. He loved attending church and singing gospel music, working on old cars and doing carpentry work.
He loved his wife, daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren and many friends dearly.
Services to celebrate his life will be held 2:00PM Saturday, October 4, 2014 at the Skelton Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor William “Bill” Bennett and Rev. Daniel Legg officiating. Ricky Profitt, Rick Lilly, and Audria Toler will be ministering in song. Following the services he will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Honorary Ministers will be Ronald Adkins, Freddie Lovell, Jack Reeves, Lynn Halstead, and Donnie Fink.
Jim Lynch, Warren Burkhart, Tommy Thompson, Anthony Logan Wallace, Steve Martin and Randy Williams will be serving as pallbearers.
Friends may gather with the family from 1:00PM until time of the service Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley in honor of Mr. Snuffer.
