Born March 31, 1945 in Beckley, WV, he was the son of the late Margaret L. Wooldridge. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Beckley, WV. Dick retired as co-owner, and treasurer of Summit Supply, Inc. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1963, served in the US Navy until 1967, and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Morris Harvey College in 1974. Roy enjoyed playing golf, boating, water skiing, and most importantly, spending time with his family. He was an avid WVU sports fan who attended many of their games.
Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Shirley, two sons Steven Knuckles, and his wife Christina of Princeton; Philip Knuckles, and his wife Kimberly of Beaver; two brothers, Thomas Knuckles, and his wife Nanette of Noblesville, IN; David Knuckles, and his wife Karen of Martinsville, VA; and a sister, Cathy Showalter, and her husband Gary of Beckley; 6 grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren.
A private funeral service will be held at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, WV on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Donald R. Snyder - Senior Minister presiding.
