Shirley Jean Mills

Shirley loved spending time with her friends and family, enjoyed studying the bible in her free time and flowers. She graduated from Sophia High School and worked in Home Health and as a teacher’s aid for the Board of Education.

She will be reunited with her parents, infant sister, Vivian L. Howerton, sisters; Dolly Howerton Mills, Wanda Howerton Perry, and Connie Howerton Mills, and a grandson, William (Billy) Piccolo.

Those left to cherish her include her daughter, Sherry Ireland, Brothers; James Virgil and wife Barbara Howerton, Michael Joe Howerton, Sister, Barbara Jane and husband Paul Sargent, Granddaughter, Heather Piccolo Ashby, Grandson, Joseph Piccolo, Great Granddaughter; Haley Gaddie, Cassidy Ashby, and Grabielle Piccolo, Great Grandson, Dylan Piccolo, Great great granddaughters; Carmen, Crystel, Izzy, Great great grandson, Cole and a special caretaker Sheila Hardy.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Sunday, July 30th, 2023 from 4 PM – 7 PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Her services will follow on Monday July 31, 2023 at 2 PM with Brother Bob Norman residing over the funeral service. She will be laid to rest following the services at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Blue Ridge Funeral home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive of Beckley WV, is honored to be serving the Mills family.
