March 4, 1947 – July 26, 2025
With hearts full of love and sorrow, we share the passing of Victoria “Vickie” Lubliner, who left us on July 26,2025, in Tampa, Florida, at the age of 78.
Born in Beckley, West Virginia, on March 4, 1947, Vickie lived a life marked by kindness, intelligence, and
quiet strength.
She was a devoted mother to her two children, Jason Lubliner and Nicole Layson, and a proud grandmother — or γιαγιά — to her cherished grandson, Nick Lubliner. She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Kathy Galanti and Dema Cole; her niece, Anne Littlepage; and her brothers-in-law, Tony Galanti and Richard Cole, with whom she shared a lifelong bond.
Vickie’s strength was perhaps most evident in recent years, as she courageously beat cancer in 2023. This was a true testament to her determination and resilience. Her passing was unrelated to that illness, but her triumph remains a lasting reminder of her unshakable spirit.
She earned multiple degrees from Bluefield College and Concord University, laying the foundation for her
early work as an Algebra teacher and, later, her decades-long career as a Controller at Smith Services. Her role there was more than just a job. It was a place where she poured her intelligence, dedication, and strong sense of responsibility into everything she did. Vickie was deeply respected for her leadership, precision, and steady presence. More importantly, she built lasting friendships with many of her colleagues, who became like a second family over the years.
A passionate reader, Vickie especially enjoyed romance and mystery novels, and there was rarely a time she didn’t have a book in hand. She had a creative spirit that bloomed through jewelry making, decorating, needlepoint, and painting — each creation reflecting her imagination and distinctive flair. She also loved a good brain teaser or puzzle — the more challenging, the better — a reflection of her sharp mind and love for problem-solving.
Vickie had a deep love for animals, particularly dogs, and filled her home with their companionship over the years.
Her quiet spirituality and love of God offered her comfort and meaning throughout her life.
Though she spent her later years in Tampa, Florida, Vickie will return to her roots. A memorial service will be held in Beckley, West Virginia at the Blue Ridge Funeral Home on August 14, 2025 at 6:00 pm. Friends may gather with the family from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
Vickie’s gentle spirit, warm laugh, and unwavering love will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the joy of knowing her.
