

As a young man he moved to Baltimore, working as a machinist at Bethlehem Steel and later going into the carpet business with his wife Doris. Al continued to run Owl’s Carpet Works into his early 90’s.
Al was known for his warm smile, jokes, and storytelling. He loved fishing, boating, football, softball, and duckpin bowling. He was active in United States Power Squadron and Baltimore Yacht Club serving as Commodore in 1982.
In his later years, he enjoyed bingo, watching the Ravens and Orioles, and socializing with family and friends. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
Al was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, and by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his nephews Thomas C. and Gerard T. Chaney, and many loving extended family members.
Visitation will be held at Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air, Inc., 610 W. MacPhail Rd, Bel Air, MD 21014 on Saturday, December 6, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A private interment will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025 at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
