On June 11th, David George Babcock passed away due to complications of lung cancer he was 49 years old. He was the beloved son of Grace Thomsen Babcock and the late Richard M. Babcock, Sr. He is also survived by his brothers Richard M. Babcock Jr., John F. Babcock and his wife Lori, his sister, Ellen B. Bragg and her husband Jeff. In addition he is survived by his nieces and nephews Jeff Bragg, Jr. and his wife Stefanie, Grace Babcock, Gregory Bragg, Lewis Babcock, Nathaniel Babcock and Tessa Babcock.
David graduated from Fallston High School in 1980 and was a member of the first graduating class. He joined the United States Coast Guard Reserve in 1981 and served at various duty stations along the East Coast. He was very proud of his service aboard the USCGC Eagle. David worked for various title companies and courier agencies within the Baltimore area.
David was a person who volunteered his time for many worthy causes. He especially enjoyed volunteering at the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center where he continued to volunteer until just days before his death.
David was diagnosed with cancer in the latter part of 2010. In the last year of his life, his voice was stolen from him by cancer, but that didn’t mute the man. He continued to communicate with others until the very end. When it become too difficult to speak he would send text messages.
The things we will always remember about David was his unending love of his dogs Raven and Casey, his constantly shaved head, his plethora of Hawaiian shirts and the fact that he loved a good dirty joke. A big Baltimore Ravens fan, he rarely missed watching a Sunday game, eating crabs and drinking beer.
