She was the daughter of the late Thomas O’Connor and Stella O’Connor of Brooklyn New York. Estelle was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 6th, 1935. She graduated from catholic school in New York City and began a career in business working for United Artists in Manhattan.
She married Jay Ryerson on April 1, 1956. Together they had three children, the late Robert Ryerson, the late Laura Ryerson and Brian Ryerson. Jay and Estelle were married for 69 years. They built a beautiful life together and truly inspired many people with their devotion and commitment to each other and their family. Nothing was more important to Estelle than her family. She adored all of us and often said “I love you more than you will ever know.” She especially enjoyed decorating, traveling, and shopping.
Estelle spent many years working in the banking industry in Connecticut. She loved working with the public and helping others. Estelle was truly a one-of-a-kind person, a petite woman who had a heart and a passion far beyond her size and her energy was infectious.
Estelle is survived by; her husband, Jay Ryerson of Abingdon MD, her son, Brian Ryerson of Perry Hall MD, Brian’s Fiancé Christine Commodari, her three grandchildren, Theodore Ryerson of Bel Air MD and his wife Carrie Ryerson, Alyssa Ryerson of Annapolis MD, Carly Ryerson of Charleston SC and two great grandchildren Miles and Dean Ryerson of Bel Air MD.
The family offers special thanks to Amedisys Hospice care, the Maryland doctors, nurses, and staff at University of Maryland University Hospital, that provided exceptional care and compassion during her battle with cancer. A simple obituary cannot fully encapsulate Estelles life, but it serves as a tribute to a woman that was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.
A private celebration of life is being planned.
