Gerry was born in Minersville, PA to Ernest and Mary (Kerwick) Gustitus. He met his wife, Dorothy, in high school where he was a standout athlete. He then went on to play football and baseball at West Chester College.
Gerry and Dottie moved to Matteson, IL, where he worked as regional sales manager for PEMCO before being promoted to global head of sales and marketing, which brought them to Bel Air in 1977. After a successful 40-year career with many clients and colleagues becoming close friends, he retired and consulted for several more years.
An avid golfer, Gerry was a long-time member of Maryland Golf & Country Club. He was a loyal Notre Dame fan, enjoyed spending summer weekends with his family on Maryland's eastern shore and could be found most afternoons around his pool throwing balls to his family dogs, Mikey and Lily. He loved to travel and together with his wife saw much of the world.
Gerry was a devoted husband and father, who loved his family. He was kind and generous, he was sensitive yet strong, he was courageous, he was patriotic, and he was a loyal and trusted friend. Gerry was proud of where he came from and even more proud of the life he built for his family. He was a kind and caring man who was loved by many.
Gerry is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Dottie, his two daughters, Cheryl and Colleen, his loyal golden retriever, Mikey; his brother Robert (Cheryl R.) Gustitus, nephews Jeremy (Tracey) and Marc Gustitus; sister-in-law Carol (Basil) Cherkis and nephew David Cherkis.
Relatives and friends are invited to the celebration of Gerry's life to be held on September 12, from 12:30 - 4:00pm at Maryland Golf & Country Club, 1335 E. MacPhail Rd., Bel Air, MD 21015. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Humane Society of Harford County.
