John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane Watkins, who he treasured and adored deeply. John also preceded his loving brother, Chet Watkins, with whom he shared a lifelong passion for truck driving and working together.
John spent most of his life working as a truck driver, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family. Outside of work, John was known throughout the neighborhood for taking great pride in his home and yard—often keeping one of the nicest yards around.
Above all else, John loved his family fiercely. He lived for his children and grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them and finding his greatest joy in watching his family grow. He enjoyed the simple things in life: camping trips, fishing, and gathering around a table covered in Maryland crabs with the people he loved most.
John also had a special bond with his bird, BB, who brought him endless entertainment. He took great pride in teaching BB all kinds of inappropriate remarks, something that never failed to make those around him laugh.
He is survived by his children Elaina Stem, Bryan Watkins and his wife Jamie, Brittany Krause and her husband Alex, and Jenalee Watkins. He was a proud grandfather to Riley, Aubrie, Nathaniel, Sydney, and Maxwell, who brought him endless pride and happiness.
John will be remembered for his hard work, his love for the outdoors, his sense of humor, and most of all the deep, fierce love he had for his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Celebration of life details will be announced at a later time.
