

Louise Carol Maus, age 79, of Bel Air, MD passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Jan 10, 2025. Louise was born on December 20, 1945 and grew up on the family farm in Watkins, MN. After Louise graduated from Saint Boniface High School in Cold Spring, MN, she earned a degree in political science at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, MN.
Louise moved to Arlington, VA in 1967 and worked on Capitol Hill for two separate congressmen, for twenty-five years as Chief Case Worker on immigration issues. After retiring from government service and the private sector, Louise continued her lifelong passion for sewing, decorating and making jewelry. She was an excellent seamstress, sewed her own clothes, quilts, upholstery and interior decorations. Louise was always happy to help her family and others with sewing and decorating projects.
In 2017, Louise moved to Bel Air, MD to live closer to her sister Ruth and her family. Louise enjoyed playing bridge and Euchre with friends and family, near and far. She helped with the Altar Guild at St. Margaret’s Church.
Louise is survived by her sisters Ruth Rothschilds and Helen Grutkoski, her brother Richard and his wife Donna, and sister-in-law Sandy Maus, seventeen nieces and nephews, and many other extended family members. Louise is preceded in death by her brother Philip Maus, her parents Benno and Lorrayne Maus, and her two brothers-in-law, James Rothschilds and Bruno Grutkoski.
A visitation for Louise will be held Friday, January 17, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at St. Margaret Catholic Church, 141 N Hickory Ave, Bel Air, MD 21014, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 AM. The committal service will take place at Highview Memorial Gardens.
