

On April 13, 2014, Millard “Pete” J. Arnold; beloved husband of Dottie Arnold; devoted father of the late Brian F. Arnold, dear brother of Herbert J. Arnold and his wife Ellen; he is preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Alice Arnold.
Pete had a passion for serving his community. He joined the Bel Air Lions Club in 1971 and for the next forty-three years was an active participant in the Clubs community service projects. He was well known for his extraordinary contributions to the Bel Air Fourth of July Pancake breakfast, the Club’s annual Christmas tree sale, the Rockfield Park Garden for the Senses, the Club’s Inner City elementary school eye screening program and many other community outreach programs. During his 43-year Lions career, he served almost continuously as a member of the Club’s Board of Directors, including a term as President in 1979. In 1994, he was inducted into the Lions Club International prestigious Melvin Jones Fellowship. He was also a Life Member of the Marine Corp League, the Commandant of the Harford County Detachment #1198, and a member of the Military Order of the Devil Dogs, Pound #333.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Schimunek Funeral Home, 610 W. MacPhail Road, Bel Air, on Saturday from 6-8 pm, where a Lions Service will be held at 7pm, and Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, where a Marine Presentation will be held at 7pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 9 am at Christ the King Church, Towson. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Marines Helping Marines Program, 512 Thornton Court, Myrtle Beach, SC, 29579.
