Today is the anniversary of Dad seeing Jesus in all of his glory and pure love. I miss you Dad. I know you have been watching over me and I thank you for all the times you have helped me out over the past year. Thanks for the miracle of helping Nugget walk again. Thank you for everything I am because of you. I love you. Ralph

I apologize that this is late. I was out of state at the time Ralph passed and just found out.
Ralph was a gentleman in every sense of the word. When I began my teaching career at Bel Air High School in 1969, Ralph had just transferred there from a middle school in Baltimore County. As a rookie I needed all the help I could get. Two teachers took it upon themselves to mentor me. Ralph was one of them. His help, concern and friendship were invaluable. Any student who had Ralph for science was lucky indeed.
I'm sure that Ralph heard the Lord say, "Well done my good and faithful servant." May he rest in peace.

I would like to share with you the kind of Dad my Father was. When I was a teenager I had a serious accident. When my Dad arrived, I said “Dad I wrecked the car.” My Father replied, “I don’t care about the car. I only care about you. As long as you are ok that is all that matters.” Those simple words had a profound effect on me and my understanding of a Father’s love. When I went skiing in Pennsylvania, I lost my keys on the ski slope. I called my Dad and told him what happened. He said, “I am on my way.” He drove two hours and when he arrived, the ski slopes were closed, the parking lot was empty, with the exception of my car. He gave me the keys and a hug and said he would follow me home to make sure we made it home safely. He did not say one negative thing to me. These types of events were repeated throughout my life as my Dad showed me, over and over, what truly loving someone is all about. 
There is a Conway Twitty song titled, “That’s My Job”. In that song it has the words. 
“Every person carves his spot and fills the hole with light and I pray someday I might light as bright as he.”
My Father was a beautiful bright light who dedicated his life to serving and helping others. I am truly blessed that Ralph Joseph Trautwein Sr. is my Dad.

I attended the visitation. I was so impressed with Mr. Trautwein's career. Several master's degrees, certificates, eagle scout, teacher many schools, Deacon, Grand Knight of Columbus, fisherman, traveler, raising children, loving to grandchildren, etc. WOW. What an example for all people to follow. RIP.

Deacon Trautwein was a kind and giving staple in both my Catholic upbringing and adult life at St. Ignatius since 1975. He baptized all four of our children, graciously providing his warmth to not only our newborns but all who attended his services. He will be greatly missed. 

Mr. Trautwein was my sophomore and senior year Bio teacher and I interned for him senior year.  He instilled a love of science in me that has carried me through my career.  He had a profound impact on my life, far more than any other teacher or mentor.  I was blessed to have him in my life.  May he rest in peace. 

I'm so sorry to hear of Mr. Trautwein's passing. He was a gifted teacher, and I've thought of him fondly through the years. I'm wishing the family strength and comfort.

My deepest sympathies to the family of Mr. Trautwein. 39 years after graduating high school he remains a beloved teacher and mentor. He touched so many young lives positively with his ability to teach and reach teenagers at their level.  I have never forgotten that nitric acid turns the skin yellow. He did warn me.

My Dad worked with Josh to build all of these boats. He taught him how to use tools and spent many hours building the boats and playing with him. 

Ralph and Debbie I am so very sorry for the loss of your wonderful faith filled dad.
He was a presence in throughout my young life.  Always a smile or encouraging word.

As I talked with Ralph last evening we were able to talk and reminisce of days gone by and how funny memories can bring back other ones long missing.

You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
