and courageous battle with gastric cancer on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at his home in Abingdon, Maryland.
Ray was born at Maryland General Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, on April 19, 1962. He was the beloved son of Margaret Elizabeth (Hanlon) Weiderhold and the late Raymond Franklin Weiderhold, Jr.
Ray grew up on Buell Drive in Fallston, Maryland where he made
lifelong friends. After graduating from Harford VoTech in 1980, he
went on to pursue a career as a machinist, to which he dedicated
himself for over 40 years.
He was a dedicated father to his three children, Jennifer L. Richardson (Joshua), Amy E. Weiderhold (Zachary Schweiger), and Jason M. Weiderhold. He enjoyed fishing and camping with his son, Jason, and was an assistant leader Jason’s special needs Boy Scout Troop #4513. Additional hobbies included reading, rock & roll music, being active in his church, cooking, woodworking, and vegetable gardening.
A lifelong wish was to see the western half of the United States.
In 2023 he completed a midwest and western US trip. Ray had a passion for photography and took many scenic photos during this trip. He also enjoyed photographing family events, church events, and had his own photography website showcasing his work. In his own words, “I have been photographing people, places, and things since 1978. I started with an old Kodak 35mm camera while in high school and from my first set of prints I was hooked. I have been photographing this world for 46 years. People are most interesting and nature is amazing. I try to capture life unscripted.”
In addition to his mother and children, he is survived by his sister,
Laura Houser (Karl), and brother Douglas Weiderhold (Kelly); nieces
Allison Fallon (Matthew), Michelle Reichart (Bradley), and nephew
James Houser; great nephews Jaxon, Bodie, and great niece, Kaeli
Fallon. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his grandparents Raymond Sr. and Anna Weiderhold; Thomas and Margaret Hanlon.
