Richard Joseph Harris

On July 15, 2022 Richard J. “Dick” Harris passed away at home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Eva J. Harris (nee Spurlin); devoted father of Richard Allen Harris and his wife Barbara, and Jeffrey Scott Harris and his wife Becky; cherished grandfather of Brandon Harris, Heather Harris, and Holly Harris; loving son of the late Wilbur and Margaret Harris; dear brother of Margaret Woods and the late Mary Ruth Holbrook, Harry E. Harris, Betty Harris, David Harris and Raymond Harris; he is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.

Richard retired from the State Highway Administration. He also owned the Harris Body Shop. He was an avid crabber, enjoyed building birdhouses, and he loved classic cars and attending car shows.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air Inc., 610 W. MacPhail Rd. Bel Air, MD 21014, on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 from 10AM-12PM, where a Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Bel Air Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers those who wish may make memorial contributions in Richard’s name to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association.
