Robert R Springer

On March 26, 2026 Robert R. Springer passed away. Loving son of Edward Springer and Laura Belle Springer (nee Trump). Robert was a gentle, kind man, who grew up near Latrobe, PA. He was a shining example of a life well-lived. He developed a strong work ethic at a young age by working on the McFarland Farm milking cows and feeding the chickens. This carried over into high school as he graduated 1st in his class from Derry Township High School. He was the first of his family to graduate from college with a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. In addition to his pursuit of education, Robert loved watching and playing sports. He played running back and linebacker at Derry. He was an excellent pitcher and hitter for the Hostetter Redbirds baseball team. He had a successful electrical engineering career designing power supplies for defense systems at Westinghouse in Linthicum for approximately 30 years. He always stressed the importance of faith in God and saying your prayers. Robert’s legacy of work ethic, education, sports, and faith in God has been passed down to the next generations. Robert was the beloved husband of the late Joan F. Springer for almost 54 years; devoted father of Robert M. Springer and his wife Rachelle, John D. Springer and his wife Lisa, Joseph J. Springer and his wife Brenda, David T. Springer and his wife Laura Jeanne, and Linda J. Frank and her husband Michael; dear brother-in-law of Marjorie Culhane and her husband Stephen Culhane Sr.; loving grandfather of eleven: Jennifer, Christopher, Timothy, Patrick, Dominick, Nicole, Sydney, Katelyn, Danielle, Courtney, and Jack; adored great grandfather of eight: Owen, Harper, Luke, Aubrey, Hailey, Cooper, Ashton, and Emma. Robert is proceeded in death by his siblings, William, James, Lois, Dolores, Shirley, Edward, and Richard.

A visitation will take place at Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air, Inc., located at 610 W. MacPhail Road, Bel Air, MD 21014 on Tuesday March 31, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

A funeral mass will take place at St. Margaret Church located at 141 N. Hickory Avenue Bel Air, MD 21014 on Wednesday April 1, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Interment is to follow at Highview Memorial Gardens, located at 3433 Fallston Road, Fallston, MD 21047.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
