On Saturday, August 13, 2022, Susan E. Argo went to be with her Lord and Savior after 81 years in His time of Grace. She eagerly awaited this call from the Lord and often talked about Him calling her home. She was the loving mother of Deborah (William) Taylor of Forest Hill, MD and David Argo of Severn, MD; cherished grandmother of Andrea (Jeff) Neumayer of Bel Air, MD, William Taylor Jr of Aberdeen, MD, and Ryan (Keely) Taylor of Spring Grove, PA; doting great grandmother to Adam & Ethan Neumayer and Matthew & Anna Taylor; beloved sister to Jean (Charles) Chapoton of Plano, TX. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as dear friends Rita Sluder and Linda Hanna.
Susan was preceded in death by her great grandson Ethan, who was waiting for her when she entered Heaven, as well as her dearly missed mother and father (Betty and Herman Bruggemann).
For many years, she worked in Baltimore City as a school crossing guard, primarily at Shrine of the Little Flower, a job that she truly enjoyed. She also worked as a server and maître d’ at La Fontaine Blue, often “cutting up” with the younger staff (while running circles around them!). In retirement, she became known as “The Coffee Lady” at the Wawa in Hickory, Maryland, and became friends with many of her customers, who treated her like family, and she returned the sentiment.
She loved bingo, and going to the casino as much as she possibly could. She was an avid reader, especially of mystery novels, and loved spending her time in any pool she could find. She was fiercely independent (unless the forecast called for the slightest hint of snow!) and was never found without a tube of chapstick (or two), a cup of coffee, and a cinch pack. She also treasured spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Susan was known by many names, most treasured of those was mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She also responded to cherished nicknames such as Sue, Grams, Grammy, Sunshine, Troll, and Suzy Q, and often introduced herself as “My name is Sue; How do you do?”.
She always thought of others before herself, and always made the extra effort to ensure everyone she came into contact with had whatever they needed, often at her own expense. She will be dearly missed, but her family rejoices in the hope of eternal reunification!
A viewing will be held at Schimunek Funeral Home, 610 W. MacPhail Road, Bel Air, on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 from 3pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm. A homegoing celebration will be held at her church St. James Evangelical Lutheran, 8 W. Overlea Avenue, Baltimore, on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 11am with Rev. Eric Bednash presiding. Susan elected to be cremated and will be buried with her mother at a private interment, where she will await the final resurrection.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Baltimore, Maryland or Broad Creek Manor Assisted Living in Whiteford, Maryland.
The family would like to express their sincerest thanks and deepest appreciation to all the staff at Broad Creek Manor Assisted Living for helping to make Susan’s last year on this earth as pleasant and comfortable as possible, especially B. Strickler and S. Putnam.
“Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord!”
