Theresa Reese, wife to Ken, the love of her life for nearly seventy years, Mother to Robin Moran, Terry McGill and son-in-law PJ. Grandmom to Lindsey Pouncy (Ryan), Scott Moran, Megan Kerrigan (Brendan) Jordan McGill (Melissa) Gigi to Layla, Ryder, Reese, Blake and Maggie. Dear sister to Helen Scheidt. Friend and neighbor to many.
Theresa was born at home on Collington Ave. in Baltimore City to Elmer and Barbara Holland. She was one of ten children. Eight sisters and two brothers.
After marrying Ken in 1955, they lived on Erdman Ave. in an upstairs apartment in a row home. Robin was born shortly after. They loved taking her for walks in her stroller at the nearby Herring Run Park and sled rides at Clifton Park.
In 1960, they moved to Bagley Ave. in Parkville shortly after Terry’s arrival. Two of Theresa’s sisters, Georgie and Carrie with their families lived across the street. Our cousins were our childhood friends and neighbors.
Theresa was proud of her family and home. It was a combination of Leave It To Beaver and Mad Men. While Ken was making his way in sales at Armco Steel, Theresa was busy being the premier homemaker. She rearranged furniture at a drop of a hat and watched her beloved soap operas while ironing in the living room. Dinner was always on the table at 5:30. Don’t be late!
Theresa and Ken loved Ocean City, MD. Many summer vacations were spent there with so many other family members. We filled many in an apt building. The best memories.
In 2002, Ken and Theresa moved to Forest Hill, in Harford County. Again, they made their new condo a welcoming home for their children, grandchildren, and friends.
Theresa’s life revolved around her family. She was the ultimate caregiver for her grandchildren. It was never a burden. Whether to the pool during summer months, taking care of them if home sick from school, she was there. Nothing came first… except her Friday appt. at the Hair Salon.
Theresa had a good life. She loved parties, family dinners, gardening, shopping at Kohl’s and having lunch with Ken and her daughters on Friday… after the hair appt. So raise a glass, hers would be moscato, to a life well lived.
