My deepest sympathies. Although I did not know Wolfgang well, it was clear to anyone that met him he had an amazing spirit and was filled with love and joy. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

There are special people in this world that you know immediately when you meet them. Wolfgang Schmidt is one of those few that I had the privilege to meet although only briefly. I am fortunate to have met him and I will carry a piece of his optimistic and loving attitude with me.  My sincerest condolences for his family, loved ones and friends. Dear Family, though words, however gentle, cannot take your loss away. Please accept our deepeth sympathy for the lost of Wolfgang. There are no words to provide comfort to your family at this time. Although I only had the pleasure of meeting Mr Schmidt once, he seemed like a wonderful man and father. Dear Tricia and Jeff, I was very saddened to hear that your father passed away.  He was a most impressive man.  Tricia, remember when we met him?  Roger and I came over for dinner at your house in Valparaiso when your parents came down to see you. About 20 years ago, wasn't it?  Through the years, we saw them when they visited you.  

I remember once after you moved away, your dad came down to Eglin TDY and Roger was TDY, so the two of us went out to dinner.  Tricia, we had a great time and he shared how he came to this country and joined the Army; how he met your mom, an how difficult it was losing her and being alone; and how he was ready to meet someone and share his life since your mom had passed away. He wanted someone to bless, and to spoil.  Yes...That's what he said. 

Also, I was impressed with his commitment to excellence in all he did, and  how he left Germany to come join the American army; how he still loved working and contributing.  What a risk taker!  

He was a genuine person and was a nice, caring person.  He wanted to make a difference in life, and I believe he did.  He was very proud of his children and glowed when he updated me on your lives. 

In addition to being about one of the nicest people I've ever met, he was determined and disciplined.  He looked out for the well-being of others.  I really liked him.  He sure made world a better place.  We will miss him.  Debbie and Roger

Tricia & Jeff - I'm very sorry for your loss. I knew your father many years because of Bob Sayer. When I used to travel to APG the three of us will spent time and have dinner together. I also did some business travel with your Dad. we always had a great time. I'm going to miss him dearly. He will always be in my prayers.

My heartfelt sympathy to Wolfs' family.  He was missed when he left DTC, but not nearly so much as now.  His wonderful smile and attitude towards life will be remembered.

Wolf was certainly one of a kind - I will always remember his kindness, his compassion, and his patience.  On a business trip to Las Vegas some years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting up for a drink with Wolf at the Bellagio, and spent several hours there fascinated by the story of his youth, his days in the Army, meeting his wife, and his pride in his family.  Wolf was always the gentleman, and I'll remember him fondly.

In deepest mourning our thoughts are with you. It is very painful to lose such a cheerful, attentive and sincere uncle and friend.  He will remain in our hearts forever.
