Arthur Lee Shimp Jr.

Arthur Lee Shimp Jr, 52, of Appleton City, MO unexpectedly passed away after a brief illness at Belton Regional Hospital on July 8, 2017. Celebration of Life will be 11:00-1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 5 at McGilley & George Funeral Home, 12913 Grandview Rd. Grandview, Missouri. Author was born April 21, 1965 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was the oldest son of Arthur Lee Shimp and Hazel Dee (Barrett) Dean.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents. Arthur is survived by his loving best friend, partner and companion of their home of 11 years, Jan Alexander, Appleton City MO; two sons, Justin Leroy Shimp and Arthur Lee Shimp III; one daughter, Amber Lynn Shimp and three grandchildren, all of Halfway, MO; stepmother, Dorothy Shimp, Reno NV; stepfather, Larry Dean, Rich Hill MO; three brothers, Robert Jackson (Patti), Russellville AR; William Shimp (Sharon), Kansas City MO and John Shimp (Jenna), Iola KS; six sisters, Cathy Atwell (Rob), Rockville MO, Janet Jackson (Rodney), Independence MO, Tammie Recinos (Victor), Rich Hill MO, Elinor (Shimp) Beck (Marty), Clearfield UT, Rayetta Dean, Osceola MO and Hazel D Shimp, Iola KS.

Arthur loved the peace and quiet of the country life where he really enjoyed exploring the woods, hunting mushrooms and watching his beloved dogs, Gigi and Molly, who were his constant companions, chase squirrels and rabbits.
