Born April 13, 1930, in Roanoke, Virginia, he was the eldest son of the late Alvin Carmel Hylton and Flossie Cora West Hylton.
Duane owned and ran a country store “back home” in Virginia. He left Virginia to proudly serve in the United States Air Force. He met Jean Ann Jones during his time serving at Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base in Belton and married her in April of 1963. After serving in the United States Air Force he operated the Liz Ann Trailer Park, was an active member of the local Civil Defense, and retired from the United States Postal Service as a rural letter carrier. During his retirement he enjoyed raising gardens, shopping with his wife and spending time with his dogs. After the loss of his first wife, Duane was blessed to find love again and marry Carol Jeanne Quick in March 1997. With this “ready made” family he had the chance to be “Papa” Hylton with ball games, parties and lots of hugs and kisses.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Carol Jeanne (Quick) Hylton, Step-Daughters, Annette Quick (John Marencik), Natalie Vogt (Michael) and Brenda Vaughn (David); Grandchildren, Christine Huggins, Kenneth Vaughn (Meghean), Karen Mefford (Jason), Richard Vaughn (Sara), Ana Vogt, and Jason Vogt; Great- Grandchildren, Irelynn and Ella Huggins and Ariyana Kelce; Kennedy, Morghean and Kaylea Vaughn; Gwen, Emmett and Avery Mefford; Caroline and David Vaughn and a multitude of friends that are like family.
