Fred Leland McCombs

Frederick L McCombs, 70, of Belton died March 9, 2017, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City. Fred was born April 1, 1946, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Donald L and Maxine (Homborg) McCombs. He was a longtime employee of the Missouri Department of Transportation, retiring in 2008 as a Motorist Assist operator after 43 years of service. On March 13, 1965, he married Sandra Fuller in Harrisonville, MO. They enjoyed 52 years together. Fred was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Raymore, MO, and had previously been a longtime member of El Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Belton. Fred’s relationship with Christ was the most important aspect of his life. He also served as a volunteer fireman for the Belton Fire Dept. in the 1970’s. He is survived by his wife of the home, Sandy, and one son, Russell McCombs, of Gladstone, MO, and a daughter, Sherry McCombs, of Belton. He was preceded by death by his parents and one brother, Gerald McCombs. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15, at McGilley & George Funeral Home in Belton followed by Funeral Services at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the Belton Cemetery.
