

Jim, 81, died Sunday, March 17, 2013. He was born July 23, 1931, in a farmhouse in Cleveland, MO, graduated from Cleveland High School in 1948, then served with the US Army during the Korean War. In 1958 he earned a Business degree from the University of Kansas City where he was named to Torch & Scroll Honorary Society, served as associate editor and business manager of the school newspaper, was elected president of the Student Body and of Delta Chi Fraternity, (Bounder Brothers) lettered in basketball, and was named 'Most Fascinating Man.' Jim served as President of the UMKC Alumni Association, was a member of the Athletic Foundation Board, was a founder and president of Booster Club, volunteered as Color Commentator for basketball games, and established an athletic scholarship fund. He received the Presidential Citation Service Award, the Bloch School Alumni Achievement Award, Chancellor's Service Award, and was named to 'Top 100 Innovators and Benefactors.' After college, Jim worked for Sinclair Refining. He started his own company, Job Real Estate Appraisal, in 1969. The American Society of Appraisers elected him Regional Governor and International President. He served as a member of the committee that formed the Missouri Real Estate Commission to establish licensing requirements and ethical guidelines for all appraisers in Missouri. He was a Cass County Democratic Committeeman, member of KC Chamber of Commerce, Friends of Art, and Channel 19. An enthusiastic booster of his hometown teams, he rooted for MU Tigers, UMKC Kangaroos, KC Royals and KC Chiefs, who recently honored him as a fifty-year season ticket holder. Preceding Jim in death were his wife Sally in October 2012 and his sister JoAnne in January 2013. He is survived by his loyal brother, Jerry Job of Leawood, KS, a son Jeff Job, a grandson Levi Job, two step-daughters Natalie Wilkerson- Smith and Kendall Cassidy, a devoted namesake nephew Jim, and five loving nieces, Krista, Kelly, Karla, Julie and Jennie. A memorial service celebrating Jim's life will be at 11:00am Saturday, March 23, in the Atterbury Student Success Center, in Pierson Auditorium, on the UMKC campus, 51st & Rockhill Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jim and Sally Job Scholarship Fund, mailed to UMKC Kangaroo Athletics Scholarship Fund, 5100 Rockhill Rd, 210 SRC, KC, MO 64110.
