James L. Loy, 57, passed away surrounded by loved ones in his Shawnee home in the early morning hours of December 22, 2010. He was born July 21, 1953 in Kansas City, Missouri, the oldest child of James and JoAnn Loy and the proud brother of two sisters, Julie Loy and Kristina Murphy. Jim kept his family and friends at the center of his life, always more concerned for those around him than he was his own needs. Nothing he would take, everything he gave. He was a true hero in every sense of the word, providing for his family, caring for his friends and bravely defending his country. Jim was a marksman and engineer in the United States Army and an engineer at B/E Aerospace after his service to his country. His accomplishments as an engineer in his professional life were a reflection of the things he was passionate about in his personal life, like the rumble of a loud bike or the hum of a finely tuned car he had toiled on for hours. However, a warm day at the lake with those he held dear to his heart or a long, cool ride alone with his thoughts were the times Jim cherished most. They are times which will continue to warm the hearts of those Jim leaves behind; "his girls"- loving wife, Barbara, daughters, Becky, Jessica, Lindsey and Shelly, his grandchildren Andrew, Miles, Lainey, Blake and Bobby, his father, Jim, and two sisters, Kristina and Julie. "What's the plan?" he would say. The plan is to keep Jim's memory alive by continuing on as he would have wanted and wait for a time to meet in a better place - "Rest high sweetheart, see you on the other side." Jim's family would like to thank Dr. Botha and the liver transplant team at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, the nurses at Kansas City Hospice - Cheri Bliss, Neva Campbell-Lowe, Marcus Rackley, Gretchen Boyer, and all others who assisted for their generous support and care. Visitation will be 12-1 pm and a memorial service following at 1:00 pm Monday, December 27 at McGilley and George Funeral Home 611 Chestnut Belton, MO. Burial in the Belton Cemetery. The family would prefer that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Patient Assistance Organ Transplant Fund, c/o Debbie Anderson, 983285 Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, NE 68198.
