Janice was born February 8, 1935 and was the daughter of the late Margaret (McWhorter) and Fred Wimmer. On June 28, 1952 she married Fredrick Henry Sears in Kansas City, Missouri. They had 67 wonderful years together before Fred passed away on November 25, 2019. During a five-year period, they had three girls; Catherine (Patrick) Jury of Des Moines, Iowa, Sharon Scheel, and Debbie (Bob) Swisher both of Belton, Missouri.
Janice was a creative person who enjoyed sketching throughout her life. And she loved gardening, growing hostas and beautiful roses in her home garden. You could give her grocery store flowers and she would create a lovely arrangement.
Janice worked various jobs and loved her colleagues wherever she was. She started her career at Southwestern Bell and retired from her position as the school lunch lady at Scott Elementary of Belton School District (2005). Between those she worked at Homesteaders Life of Des Moines, Iowa and Klaus Rose Farm and Creative Homes Collection of Belton, Missouri.
Janice is survived by her daughters and their families including four grandchildren: Melissa, Kyle (Kaitlyn), Mark (Christine), and Max (Yasmine); and one great-grandchild, Madilyn (Jade). She was happily awaiting the birth of her second great-granddaughter in August. Even though he was no longer married to Melissa, Travis Brooks was an exceptionally important person to her. She has a nephew, Sean Wimmer of Missouri and a deceased nephew, Curt Wimmer.
She loved the four dachshunds she and Fred had throughout their life. And they were each named Penny.
The family of Janice Sears thanks Dr. Walker and the nurses and medical staff of the ICU at Belton Regional Medical Center who were with her through her passing.
