Jimmie Lawrence Wilson, born on August 4, 1949, in Branson, Missouri, to Audie Edith Macomb (Wilson) and George Marion Wilson, passed away peacefully at his home in Belton, Missouri, surrounded by love and family. Jim had five siblings, Ethel McLemore, Patty Martin, Jessie Pearl, Joe Wilson and Shirley Wilson.
Jim spent his childhood and teenage years in Branson, Missouri, until the age of 17, when he moved to Kansas City. It was there that he met the love of his life, Linda Jolene Wilson of Unionville, Missouri. The two were married on March 1, 1968, embarking on a devoted and loving 56-year journey together.
Jim and Jolene built a beautiful life, raising three sons: Chad Wilson, Chris Wilson, and Casey Wilson (Kelly Wilson). He found immense joy in his role as a grandfather to his five beloved grandchildren: Chris Geary, McKenna Wilson, Chase Wilson, Carter Wilson, and Cooper Wilson, all of whom brought light to his later years.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Jim was a proud member of Local Union #2, working as a sheet metal worker for 41 years before retiring in 2011. In retirement, he cherished his time with Jolene, caring for his garden, attending car shows with his prized 1940 Hemi Orange pickup truck, and ensuring Jolene’s bird boxes were kept safe from pesky starlings and sparrows.
Jim will be remembered for his integrity, dedication, humor, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 15, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at McGilley & George Funeral Home, 611 Chestnut, Belton, MO 64012 with service at 2:00 PM. Dinner for family and close friends immediately following service at Main Event Space 322 Main Street, Belton, MO 64012.
Jim will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
