Mason Cunningham

Mason K. L. Cunningham, 21, of Belton and Warrensburg, MO, died Mon., May 28, 2012, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near California, MO. Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Fri., June 1, at Rock Brook Church, 1715 E 173rd St., Belton, MO. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Sat., June 2, also at Rock Brook Church. Graveside services will follow in the Belton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Mason Cunningham Memorial Scholarship Fund at Bank of Belton. Mason was born June 22, 1990, in Merriam, KS, to John and Lara Cunningham and had lived most of his life in Belton, MO. He was a junior at the University of Central Missouri, where he majored in Biochemistry and Spanish. He graduated from Belton High School in 2008, where he was active in soccer, tennis and band. He worked summers with his father at Pool & Patio. Mason lived life passionately, which was demonstrated by his love and compassion for nature, his family and friends. In recent months, Mason gave his life to Christ and shared the good news with everyone he met. Survivors include his mother, Lara G. Cunningham; his father, John E. Cunningham, Jr.; brother, J. Tyler Cunningham; grandparents, Janice and Frank Wommack, L. Rick Stephenson; uncle, Lew Stephenson and wife Marci and daughter Lily; cousins, Cherie Greenwood and Stacie VanDine, and numerous other family and friends. Mason was preceded in death by his grandfather, John E. Cunningham, Sr.; grandmother, Lois Cunningham Smith and his aunt Terri Peden Bardwell.
