Phyllis Davis

Phyllis Kathryn Snellings (Garber) Davis of Belton, MO passed away at the home of her daughter, on September 15, 2015 at the age of 94. Phyllis was the wife of Ret. Lt. Colonel Arnold E. Davis and mother to Arnold Davis Jr. (of Littleton, CO) and Diane Davis Brown (of Merriam, KS). Phyllis was born and raised in Richmond, VA. As a military wife, Phyllis moved many times: Mississippi, Florida, Texas, Massachusetts and finally to Missouri at Richards-Gabaur Air Force Base in 1959 where she remained for the remainder of her life. She worked as a secretary at Pitman Manufacturing Company in Grandview, Mo. She was a member of the Methodist Crossroads Church. Phyllis enjoyed many activities and card games with her friends and sorority sisters. Her charisma and strong southern accent left lasting impressions with people she met. She was a strong-willed, independent woman who loved life! Phyllis was a beloved grandma, known as Gamee. She loved all sports but was especially a KU fan and did not miss many football games or basketball games. She also enjoyed the Chiefs, PGA golf, and stayed an avid fan of the Royals over the years and in recent years she even started to enjoy soccer. Over the past many years she enjoyed going to the "boats" and playing the Slot machines at the Kansas City casinos. She won BIG many times which always kept her eager to return.

Phyllis had 3 granddaughters, Tierney Thompson (Overland Park, KS), Brittney Coffey (Arvada, CO) and Shauney Brown (Merriam, KS) and one grandson, Cody Davis (Littleton, CO). Phyllis also had 5 great-granddaughters and 1 great grandson.

Visitation 2-4 pm Sunday, September 20 at McGilley & George Funeral Home 611 Chestnut in Belton. Graveside service will be 11:00 am Monday, September 21 in Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS with to her husband.
