

Alexander Russell "Russ" Telfer, Jr., of Citrus Springs, Florida, passed away on Monday., October 21, 2024 at HPH Hospice Citrus Care Center in Lecanto, Florida. Russ, as he was known to everyone, was born June 4, 1928 to Alexander Sr. and Evelyn (Russow) Telfer, one of two children. Mr. Telfer served his country honorably and proudly in the United States Navy from 1949 to 1952 as a Boiler Technician Second Class Petty Officer aboard two aircraft carriers; first, the U.S.S. Kearsarge (CV-33) and then the U.S.S. Midway (CVB-41). Russ was a retired maintenance supervisor and was a very active member of both Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church in Citrus Springs and VFW Edward F. Penno Post # 4864, also of Citrus Springs. In addition to his parents, Russ was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Janice Telfer; son John K. Telfer; his brother Gene Telfer and sister-in-law Peggy Telfer, and his son-in-law William Klegman. Survivors include his loving companion Constance "Connie" DeTuerk; two daughters: Debra Klegman and Sally Modica; five grandchildren: Julie Brown (husband Tim), Jim Looper, Joshua Modica (wife Bobbie), Adam Telfer (wife Kelly), Sara Smith (husband Clay); eleven great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. Friends will be received on Friday, November 29, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9425 N. Citrus Springs Blvd. in Citrus Springs, where a Celebration of Life will commence at 11:00 AM, beginning with Military Honors rendered by the United States Navy and VFW Edward F. Penno Post #4864. Upon completion of the Celebration of Life, officiated by Pastor Stephen Brisson, placement of Mr. Telfer's ashes will take place in the church columbarium.
