Alfred V. Fairall, Jr., 76, went to be with his beloved wife on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at his home in Citrus Springs, Florida. He is now rejoicing with his Lord and his Bonnie. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Bonnie Barton Fairall; as well as his brothers, William and Michael Fairall, brother-in-law Mike Lenderking, niece Dana Spicer, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Al was born on August 7, 1947 in Cumberland, MD to the late Alfred V. Fairall, Sr. and Maxine H. (Monnette) Fairall. He was a 1965 graduate of LaSalle High School, in Cumberland, MD. He was a US Air Force Veteran (1966-1970) having service in SAC and MACV/USAID. A construction electrician by trade, he was a 50-year member of Local 307, IBEW in Cumberland. A life member of the SAV and the VVA. Al was especially grateful to the VA for years of quality medical care in Cumberland, MD; Martinsburg, WV; Lecanto, Gainesville, and The Villages, FL. Special thanks to his personal physician in Lecanto, Dr. Florimar Nazario-Vidal as well as all of the care provided by the nurses and staff with the hospice agency, VITAS Healthcare.
Al is survived by his son, Shawn Ritchie (Kathy); grandchildren Ashley Little (Josh), Patrick Ritchie, Samanthia Little, and John Little (Krystal) all of Thurmont, MD. His Thurmont “Grandkid” Zoe Croyle. His great-grandchildren, Autumn, Brayden, Caelan, Kyrie, Bryson, and grand-daughter on the way. He also leaves behind his sister, Mary Lou Fansler (Greg) and family of Cumberland, MD; sister-in-law Regena Fairall and daughters of La Valle, MD; sister in law Connie Bosley Fairall and daughter of Cumberland, MD; and Bonnie’s sister Jean Lenderking of Belfast, ME. His beloved niece, Brandi Staub, who took special care for him over the last year and a half. Brandi’s 5 children. A special friend, Brandy Lafollette and her 3 sons of Strawberry Plains, TN. Florida friends, Luz Amaldi, Ruthie Shine, Tammy Nipper, Michelle Edelston (aka Sunflower Girls). Special in Al and Bonnie’s lives and hearts were ‘Their Girls’”: Laura, Mary, Sarah, Lee, Nicky, Jo-Jo, and Cricket (Rachel) and their families. All were deeply loved. Al is eternally grateful to his niece, Julie Lenderking Hendren (Mike) and family of Winchester, VA. Julie was a rock when one was needed, and very much loved.
Per his wishes, Al was cremated. Services will be private when he joins his love, Bonnie, at the Florida Veterans National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. A celebration of life will be held in Cumberland, MD at a later date.
