Edward Allen Browning of Citrus Springs, FL went home to be with Jesus and his wonderful wife Vicki on Thursday, April 28th, 2022. He was born in Williamson, WV on October 26th, 1942. Ed was one of 7 children born to the late Charlie Franklin Browning and Jessie Elizabeth Blackburn Browning of Belfry, KY. He graduated from Belfry High School and moved to Lorain, OH. Ed served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He married his childhood friend, Vicki S. Farley on October 15th, 1971.
Ed worked as a short order cook at The Hoop until he was hired on at Ford Motor Company in Lorain, OH where he worked for 32 years and then retired in 1994. The family then moved from Lorain, to Ashland, OH where he and Vicki worked on their next labor of love, their house on Country Road 801. Ed and Vicki traveled a lot during their retirement with friends and family by way of camper. Their camper and truck accumulated many miles from Ohio to Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida making friends wherever they went. They enjoyed snow birding in Florida for 5 years before they purchased a home in Florida and used the camper for Ohio camping trips. A few years later the whole family relocated to Florida on a full-time basis so that Ed and Vicki could spend those years on random trips to Ireland and exploring Florida with their family. He joined the Citrus Springs VFW where he made many great friends. He enjoyed boating, fishing, bowling, watching the Browns play, family time, throwing the ball around with his grandson Landon. But what Ed enjoyed most of all was spending time with his family, especially his best little buddy Landon, who kept him super active with his sports schedule. Ed made friends everywhere he went, with most of those friends’ becoming family. Ed always wanted everyone to have a good time and just be happy. Being around him made you feel that way, too.
Ed was a member of Maple Grove Church in Ashland, OH and attended Lighthouse Baptist Church in Citrus Springs, FL as well as Hills Church in Beverly Hills, FL on occasion the hear his younger brother, Rick, play music and sing for the church service. He was a member of the Black River Masonic Lodge #786 in Lorain, OH and a lifetime member of the VFW Lorain Post 451. He attended the local VFW Post #4864 in Citrus Springs for the last few years, where he served on the House Committee.
Ed is survived by his daughter Makesha (Browning) Bowles, son-in-law Blake Bowles, and grandson Landon Bowles. He is also survived by his siblings, Shelvia "Sheb" (Cecil) Hatfield of Belfry, KY, Wanda (Eugene) Hatfield of Morristown, TN, Richard "Rick" (Pam) Browning of Beverly Hills, FL, sister-in-law Betsy Browning of Beulaville, North Carolina, as well as many amazing nieces, nephews, and close family friends.
