Frances was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was born in Terrell, Texas and her family later moved to Ruston, Louisiana where she graduated from Ruston High School.
She received her B.A. from LSU in 1948 where she met Frank A. Bailey, Jr. She received her Master's Degree from Tulane University on June 5th, 1951. She received her degrees in a time when it was unusual for women to do so! She graduated from Tulane in the afternoon and married Frank in the evening with her father W.E.B. Lockridge officiating.
Frances worked as a psychiatric social worker in various positions throughout the state of Louisiana and retired in 1991 after 20 years of service at the Crowley Mental Health Clinic. She was Head of Adolescent and Children's Services at the time of her retirement.
Frances was a loving Mom and grandmother. She was a Christian who loved the Lord, an avid reader, loved classical and Opera music, made jewelry, wrote poetry and enjoyed movies. She was witty, a great storyteller and had a wonderful laugh! Her raised eyebrow spoke volumes and her observations of life were insightful and entertaining! She was truly an extraordinary woman and will be greatly missed!
