Born on Friday, October 8, 1948 in Seattle, WA to Luther Merrill and Maryanne Hoenow, Jerry spent his childhood in Seattle before enlisting in the United States Army in 1969. He had a stellar 20-year military career, during which time he served in the 82nd Airborne and as a Green Beret before retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1989.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Carole, doting daughter LeeAnn McDaniel, step-son Donald Cooper, son-in-law Wayne McDaniel, and loving grandchildren Zachary Bryce and Hannah Shea McDaniel. He is also survived by his mother Maryanne, brother Michael Hoenow, sister Cecelia Kline, brother Terri Merill, and a large, loving family of in-laws, cousins, and neices and nephews.
The Memorial Service of Remembrance with Military Honors is Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Anne's Episcopal Church, 9870 W. Fort Island Trail, Crystal River, FL 34429. Memorial contributions may be made to, HPHospice, Disabled American Veterans, or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
