It goes without saying that you are sorely missed from our lives and I wish you were still here with us.  I have thought of you often over the past year.  Sometimes as flashes like a snapshot holding a moment in time, and sometimes in extended spurts like a scene from a movie.  I miss our long conversations on the phone talking about Johnny and Bobby's lives and how proud you were of them, of Bruce and your struggles to achieve that relaxing retirement you both deserved, and of telling you about my successes while trying hard to avoid the things that would make you think 'what's wrong with that kid'.  I miss the times we had visiting when I went up to Arlington Heights or came down to Peach Tree City or Beverly Hills.  I take comfort that you are in the company of your brother, your mother, and your father.  I hope I will have interesting things to tell you about my life when my turn comes and I know you'll be able to show me around my new home.  I love and miss you Aunt Gerry.

It has taken me a while to post because I really don't know how to sum up a life that touched so may so deeply! What is the song :" only the Good die young" Gerry you died before your time! You meant the world to me and my family! You are and always will be an inspiration to me, in the way you always got up after being knocked down, you always made the best of any situation and I am thankful to have learned that from you. Our love started with hello. Right then, I knew our lives would be an adventure together.
You flipped the page in my life from dark to bright from sad and lonely to skyrocketing joy.
I'll never forget the day I met the boys. My life was complete!
A loving wonderful woman with two hansom, strong young gentlemen.
My life entered a new dimension to say the least.
Over the years we endured the up's and down's life thru at us.

For My Dear Sweet Mother,

May you rest peacefully knowing that you experienced great amounts of joy but gave to others one-thousand times more. 
 
Most of what I know in this world you taught me.  All of the simple things in the beginning represented deeper life lessons.  You taught me how to tie my shoe, how to build a snowman, to look both ways when crossing the street, how to set the table, how to scramble eggs, how to make friends, how to ask a girl to dance, how to actually dance, not to break too many hearts and to still smile if mine got broken, that our elders should be respected, and that you should say sorry when you've hurt someone.

Today I am prepared, creative, secure, resourceful, friendly, instinctive, grateful, humble, generous, loving and kind.  I can never repay you for giving me those gifts, Mother.  I just hope I can honor you by giving them back to others each day.

I carry with me today fond memories of our family that continue forward because of you.  I have a special bond with my big brother that can't be matched.  We were almost inseparable from the day I was born.  And while only geography separates us today, we still remain just as close.  As a mother, I know you were most proud of that.
  
My Dad has been the greatest father in the world to our family.  His thoughts and actions are always guided to help us.  He will never be able to fully understand how much he is loved and appreciated.  I thank you Mother once again for bringing him into our family.
 
We miss you beyond measure and I still hear your voice when I most need it.  The pain I feel is of mourning and great loss, but not regret.  Because I only cherish our time spent together, both the uncertain and the good.
 
Throughout your battle in the end, you never complained about being sick; you remained caring and thoughtful-almost selfless, and even in death, you showed us another beautiful side of you: Grace

Perhaps that is yet another lesson in life to be gleaned from yours.

How does one begin to describe what a mother means to her son? Your mother simply means everything to you. She permeates every aspect of your life from the extraordinary to the mundane. Whenever anything noteworthy ever happened in my life, I always thought, "I can't wait to tell mom". Even ironic thoughts; such as, mom would have loved to see how nice her men were dressed up for her funeral. She would have been proud of us. 
    Mom and I were always close. So close in fact, that I was kind of "a momma's boy". It came as a surprise to some that I therefore chose to go out of state to college and live far from home as an adult. I was able to do this because no matter what I knew my mom would always be there for me. I could always come home. I was safe to be independent and chase my own dreams because my mother and the concept of "home" served as the foundation in which I could grow. Therefore, I never felt homesick or alone...until now.
   Of course I am heartsick for the loss of my mother. But I am ever thankful that I was able to have a mother for 43 years. That is more than many people can claim. And what a mother she was! She lived 70 wonderful years and she lived them her way. Our house was always LOUD. There was laughter, anger, histrionics, but mostly Love...at full volume. It was the best place to live.
   I was fortunate to see my mom before she passed. We really did not say much to each other. There wasn't anything left un-said between us ever, anyway. We always told each other that we loved each other. There wasn't any regrets or grudges that needed to be resolved. Each knew how the other felt. There were no walls or barriers between us. I wish all people could have a similar relationship with their mother. Maybe, in a way, that best describes who my mother was.

From the first time I met you I considered you a friend.

I am very sorry that Gerry was taken so soon. Although we didn't see each other very often there was still a closeness between us that was very comfortable when we saw each other or spoke on the phone. When I last spoke to her she was her good natured self and said " I'm doing great" it's your brother that's the basket case" Thank you Bruce for being a good husband to Gerry right to the end

I was privileged to have met Gerry 25 years ago through Bobby. What I remember most is her enormous love for her son and her laugh...it filled an entire room! All I know is she continued to be an amazing woman which is evident in the love and memories she has left for her family and friends to enjoy until we see her again. Bruce, Bobby and John my heart breaks for your loss.  My prayer is that you can find healing in your precious memories.

Gerry was one of the most down to earth people I know and she could always make me laugh. It was easy to see where her boys got their humor from, always a little something to catch you off guard. She would get a little twinkle in her eye sometime and her son John has the same twinkle. She always made me feel like part of her family and I will miss cooking in the kitchen with her. I love her and her family very much, I will miss her greatly.

Bruce my heart goes out to you.   She was a wonderful person and you guys a fantastic couple.  You seemed a perfect match from the 1st time I saw you together.  She will be with you always in your heart so you will be able to go on and do the things that would make her happy.  I wish we lived closer and I could give you a hug right now.  I am so sad. She was my sister-in-law, but she was really my sister and my friend.   Gerry was an exceptional person who filled a room  with love, humor, joy and goodness. Here is what I know of Gerry Post.  She is the mother of my best friend, Bobby.  She is uproariously funny, often inappropriately so which is all the better.  Her children Bobby and John as well as her husband Bruce are fiercely loyal to her, a loyalty only outmatched by their love for her.  She is principled, generous, charming and intelligent.  These are traits that her children carry forward with them.  She is missed enormously already, but you can see her everyday in her kids.  For that we are all fortunate beyond words.  We will always remember the laughs and the talks.  For that Gerry, we are forever in your debt.
