Marilyn S. Newhouse

December 3, 1937 – January 29, 2018

Marilyn Sue Newhouse, 80, passed away January 29, 2018 at Arbor Trail Nursing Home. She was a resident of Hernando, Florida.

Marilyn was born December 3, 1937, at Crawfordsville, Indiana, to the late Jacob L. and Louise (Farrow) Mitchell. She married her husband Dale W. Newhouse on July 3, 1953 at Ladoga, Indiana, and celebrated 64 years of marriage at their last anniversary.

Her family and children were her passion. After raising six of her own children, Marilyn continued helping others raise children by running a home child care for 15 years. Marilyn also valued her church family, adjusting and finding a new church home as life brought moves and changes.

She was originally a member of the former Mt. Zion Methodist Church (New Ross, IN), then Darlington United Methodist Church (Darlington, IN). After moving to Florida, she joined the Pasadena Community Church (St. Petersburg, FL) before moving north in the state and transferring her membership to Hernando United Methodist Church (Hernando, FL). At the Hernando United Methodist Church, Marilyn was very involved serving others through the United Methodist Women’s group and the Crafters Club.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Dale W. Newhouse, and their children, David (Christy) Newhouse of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Richard Newhouse of Largo, Florida, Thomas Newhouse of Lebanon, Indiana, Ronald (Michele) Newhouse of New Orleans, Louisiana, Michael (Nancy) Newhouse of Bushnell, Florida, Melanie Newhouse of Citrus Springs, Florida, 5 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild and 5 great-grandchildren. Marilyn is also survived by her brother, Robert (Jerilyn) Mitchell, and was predeceased by her brother, Jim Mitchell.

Cremation services were entrusted to Fero Funeral Home in Beverly Hills, Florida. A Celebration of Life will be held at Hernando United Methodist Church on Friday February 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.
