

Nancy Lou Owens, 83, of Hernando, FL, passed away from serious health issues at HCA Florida Citrus Hospital in Inverness, FL on Fri., March 8, 2024. A Citrus County native of Lecanto, she was born June 5, 1940 to Orville Franklin and Thelma (West) Walker, one of four children, on a Lecanto farm, where she enjoyed an idyllic childhood. Upon her graduation from Crystal River High School, she began her career in banking by going to work at the Bank of Crystal River. Soon after, Nancy began her family and became a loving homemaker. Baptist by faith, Nancy taught Sunday School, sang in the church choir, and engaged in occasional substitute teaching. Once her children grew older, she returned to her former banking career as an executive secretary in a banking institution in downtown Orlando. When she finally retired from banking, Nancy loved being a grandmother, and spent many years caring for and loving the babies and watching them mature, and Nancy loved all of her grandchildren fiercely. She will be remembered for her enduring love for her family, her gift as a talented seamstress, and her cooking. Nancy will also be remembered for her love of Jesus Christ. In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her brothers Franklin West Walker and William Richard Walker. She is survived by her husband Randall Owens; brother Ralph Leroy Walker (Susan); children Andrea Russell (Mark) and David Lyons (Ha); stepchildren Tommy Heard (Carol), Gary Heard (Sue), Julie Mahaffey (Tommy), Randy Owens (Suzy) and Scott Fewell (Dawn); many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at Gulf To Lake Baptist Church in Crystal River on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 11:00 A.M.
