Richard Julius “Dick” Hiller, 91 of Dunnellon, passed away January 24, 2012. Richard was born on July 30, 1920 in Queens, NY. After serving in the Marine Corps in WWII, he worked for the NYPD and as a federal marshal before moving to Dunnellon in 1970. During his time in Dunnellon, he worked at the Rainbow Springs attraction, and was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He loved to dance, golf, paint, tell jokes and tend his azaleas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne C. Hiller.
He is survived by his “special someone” Genevieve Darcy, daughters Anne Scott (Richard) of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Patricia Hiller of Dunnellon; sons Richard (Allison) Hiller of Acworth, Ga., and Michael Hiller of Marietta, Ga., eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation took place on Friday, January 27 from 3 to 5pm at Fero Funeral Home in Beverly Hills, Fla. Interment, Saturday, January 28 at 11am at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens in Ocala, Fla.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at Hampton Manor West and Hospice of Marion County. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to Hospice of Marion County.
