

Russell L. Hester, 74 of Hernando, Florida died on Thursday, June 2, 2011 in the loving care of his family. He was born in Sparks, Georgia on Friday, April 2, 1937 to Eugene and Gladys (Postell) Hester. He was a veteran of the United States Army in the 82nd Airborne Division and served as a paratrooper during the Vietnam Conflict and was a buglar. Mr. Hester retired after 37 years with the John Deere Company as a training manager in Moline, Illinois. He moved to this area eight years ago from Montgomery, Alabama. Russell was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Hernando, Florida and was a member of the American Legion, enjoyed fishing, reading, gardening and was an expert barbeque chef. Russell was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Marty Hester of Hernando, Florida; son, Russell Christopher Hester and wife Sherry of Albany, Georgia; daughter, Shireen Hester Blackburn and husband Michael of Phoenix, Arizona; mother, Gladys Hester of Adel, Georgia; sister, Dorothy Duren and husband Don of Adel, Georgia; grandchildren, Christen Femiani and husband Thomas of Gilbert, Arizona, Russell Blackburn of Phoenix, Arizona and Tyler Hester of Albany, Georgia and four nieces and nephews of Adel, Georgia.
Visitation, Saturday, June 11, 2011 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. with a Memorial Service of Remembrance and Military Honors following at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 439 E. Norvell Bryant Highway, Hernando, Florida 34442.
Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Building Fund.
