

LCDR Thomas Walden Wyatt, USN (RET), 92, of Hernando, FL, passed away peacefully on Thurs., Feb. 22, 2024 at HCA Florida Citrus Hospital in Inverness, FL. A native of Coral Gables, FL, he was born June 22, 1931 to Thomas and Barbara (Walden) Wyatt. Tom, as he was known to many, enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Sept. 16, 1948 and was serving aboard the USS FLOYD B. PARKS (DD-884) at the outbreak of the Korean War. Additional duty stations included Navy Recruiting Substation, Charleston, SC, USS FISKE (DDR-842), and as a student and instructor at the Nuclear Power Training Unit, Idaho Falls, ID. Earlier in his U.S. Navy career, Tom attained the enlisted rank of Chief Petty Officer Boiler Technician (BTC), then was subsequently commissioned as an Ensign in Sept. 1963 while attached to the Nuclear Power Training Unit in Idaho Falls. His duty stations as a commissioned officer were Material Officer on the staff of COMDESDIV 252 and as Engineering Officer aboard USS DE HAVEN (DD-727).
LCDR Wyatt’s decorations include Navy Achievement Medal with Combat “V”, Good Conduct Medal with three Bronze stars, Navy Occupation Medal, China Service Medal, National Defense Medal with one Bronze star, Korean Service Medal with five Bronze stars, Vietnam Service Medal with five Bronze stars, United Nations Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Tom served his country and the United States Navy honorably and proudly for over 25 years and is survived by his wife Susan; daughter Catherine Albert (husband Paul); daughter Cynthia Salido (husband Rudy), grandsons Wyatt and Ben; stepchildren Paul Weiand, Kimberley Jones (husband Dennis), Dee Young and several additional grandchildren by marriage. Tom is also survived by his sister, Barbara Olsen. Family and friends will be received on Sat., March 9, 2024 from 11:30 AM until 12:30 P.M. at Fero Funeral Home and Life Celebration Center, 5955 N. Lecanto Highway, Beverly Hills, Florida, where a Celebration of Life with Military Honors will commence at 12:30 P.M.
