at the age of 89. Adrienne was a woman of exceptional beauty, grace, and spirituality.
Adrienne’s greatest joy was being a mother as well as the beloved “Pookie” to her 5 grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
Adrienne was born on June 5, 1933, in Birmingham, Alabama where she grew up. She
graduated from Brook Hill School in 1951 and from Northwestern University in 1955. Adrienne
was a life-long member of St. Frances Xavier Catholic Church. She was devoted supporter of both Brook Hill School (The Altamont School) and St. Frances Xavier Church. In 2015, Adrienne was honored with The Altamont School Distinguished Alumni Award.
Adrienne was an avid and accomplished golfer and member of Vestavia County Club, where she
achieved 5 holes-in-one during many years of play. She loved traveling throughout the world
with family, making treasured memories for all. Adrienne loved riding horses, playing bridge
with friends and, of course, her scotch!
Adrienne was preceded in death by her parents, Ray Loomis Lange and Virginia Hassinger
Lange, sister, Katherine Marie Lange, daughter, Virginia Lynn Clark, stepdaughter, Jennie
Jordan Burroughs and husbands, Dr. Lenward R Burroughs and John Aloysius O’Brien.
She is survived by her two sons Charles Lange Clark (Molly) and Douglas Edward Clark (Cindy) and two stepsons Lenward R. Burroughs (Vicki) and John C. Burroughs (Debra). Adrienne is also survived by her three granddaughters, Anna Kathryn Clark, Virginia Clayton Clark Basilico (Simon), Dr. Adrienne Lange Clark and two step-grandsons James C. Burroughs (Liza) and Dr. Mark B. Burroughs.
Throughout her life, Adrienne showed unconditional love and affection for her family and
friends. Her spirit will live forever, and her memory will be cherished by all.
A service celebrating Adrienne’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 1:30 pm at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, followed by a private family graveside burial. Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm at the church Tuesday.
Memorials may be given in her honor to The Altamont School or St. Frances Xavier Church.
