Anthony Charles Zito, age 96, of Hoover, Alabama entered into the Lord's presence on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. Anthony was born August 22, 1925 to Rosaria and Frank Zito. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Katherine Milan Zito; his parents; sisters, Frances, Lena, and Mary; and brothers, Tommy and Joe. He is survived by his children, Rosanna Jones (Jerry), Kathy Tamburello (Vincent), Donna Angel (Charles), and Frank Zito (Marshea); 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren on the way.
Anthony served in the U.S. Army out of high school, in the Pacific Campaign during World War II. Upon his return, he married his wife Mary Katherine Milan, and together they raised 4 children.
Anthony was proud to have owned his own business for many years. He was a founding member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards; however, his greatest love and joy was for his family.
The Zito family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Colonel Robert L. Howard State Veterans Home, especially to Dr. Harold Simon, for their incredible care for Mr. Zito during his time there.
A visitation for Anthony will be held Friday, April 8, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 4600 Preserve Pkwy, Hoover, AL 35226. A funeral mass will occur Friday, April 8, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 4600 Preserve Pkwy, Hoover, AL 35226. A committal service will follow at Elmwood Cemetery & Mausoleum, 600 Martin Luther King Jr Dr., Birmingham, AL 35211.
