The family will receive friends at Our Lady of Sorrows Church on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 10:00 am with a funeral Mass immediately following at 11:00 am.
Annette was born on August 13, 1927 in Birmingham to Vincenzina and Pasquale Cerniglia. She married Guiseppe “Joe” Reina on February 14, 1961 in Homewood.
Annette is survived by her sister Theresa Cerniglia of Birmingham and three sons. Joey and Kimberly Reina reside in Bloomington, IL with grandchildren Ryan and Taylor Griffin. Pat and Jill Reina reside in Atlanta, GA with grandchildren Courtney Reina and Austin (Allyson) Baker and great granddaughter Charley Baker. Frank and Laura Reina reside in Hoover, AL.
Annette also leaves behind brother in-laws, sister in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins residing in the US and Italy.
Annette was preceded in death by her husband Joe, her parents, sisters; Rose Monte, Tina Malazzo, Marie Cerniglia, and brothers Frank and Sam Cerniglia.
Annette was a devoted wife and mother. She found most joy in her family, her Catholic faith and friends at Our Lady of Sorrows, and cooking big Italian family meals. If you knew Annette, she would tell you that she was most proud of raising three good boys. If you were a friend of one of her boys growing up you were often treated to homemade pasta or pizza at the Reina home. She never missed a sporting event of one of her boys and was a huge Auburn fan. When granddaughter Courtney came along, she finally had a girl to share “coffee time”, cooking and slumber parties with Grandma. Annette was so proud of the young woman her granddaughter Courtney has become.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Annette’s name to Our Lady of Sorrows.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.johnsridoutselmwoodchapel.com for the Reina family.
