Ardis Marie Albany

Ardis was born on April 3, 1947, in Greenville, South Carolina. She now rests in peace, reunited with her husband James Richard Albany (Richard), her mother Ardis Flick Parrott, her father Perry McCallum Parrott, Sr., and her brother Perry McCallum Parrott, Jr (Peter).

Ardis was a graduate of Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. She obtained a Master’s Degree in Mathematics from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia, before moving to Birmingham in 1979, where she and husband Richard raised her sons, Jay and Hunter. Ardis taught math and computer science for several years in Atlanta and Birmingham before building a successful career as realtor in the Forest Park area of Birmingham.

Ardis will be remembered lovingly by her son James Richard Albany, Jr, (Jay) his wife Miranda and sons Lake and Finn; her son Christopher Hunter Albany (Hunter), his wife Stephanie, son Bodhi, and daughter Suki. Ardis is also survived by her brother, John Flick Parrott, and his wife Sally Fowler Parrott of Greenville, South Carolina.

Ardis had an adventurer’s spirit and delighted in sharing experiences with her friends and family. She enjoyed traveling and loved the beach. She was an avid reader. She was active and well-liked in her communities in Forest Park and Avondale.

Ardis relished the taste of daily victory against the New York Times Crossword Puzzle to her last days, but nothing made her happier than trying a new dish and having it well-received by her friends at Supper Club or at a gathering of friends and family. Ardis was most at ease outdoors. She loved the beaches of South Carolina and southern Alabama. At home in Forest Park, she spent many days outside gardening, reading, or relaxing with friends, family and her dogs Molly and Lizzie.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday 7 March 2026 at 10 AM at The Cathedral Church of the Advent, 2017 6th Ave N, Birmingham, AL 35203.
