Barbara Wells Forrester

Barbara Wells Forrester, 71, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 2, 2021. She was born on December 29, 1949 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty one years, John E. Forrester, Jr. She is survived by her two daughters, Jenny Parker (Joey) and Stephanie Forrester of Birmingham, AL; and her grandsons, John Parker, Turner Parker, and Christian Kaholokula.

Barbara was the oldest of 4 children. She attended Jacksonville State University where she received her undergraduate degree. She later went back and received her Masters Degree in English at The University of Alabama, Birmingham. She spent her career working at several hospitals in the Birmingham area as a Medical Record Director before retiring in 2012. Later that year, she moved to Somerby Senior Living Community. There, she enjoyed spending time with friends, playing and teaching others how to play various card games, reading, competing in trivia games, and watching Alabama football. Most of all though, she loved spending time with her family and grand boys! Barbara had a warm smile and incredibly endearing demeanor . She never met a stranger, was always willing to help, and had an incredible work ethic. She loved everyone she met, and will be missed greatly by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

There will be a visitation at Johns Ridout's Elmwood Chapel on January 7, 2021 from 10:00am-11:00am located at 800 Dennison Ave. SW Birmingham, AL. 35211 followed by a graveside service at 11:00am in Elmwood Cemetery. Johns Ridout's Elmwood Chapel directing.
