

Barbara Cruce Sanders was born in Birmingham, Alabama to parents, Limous Hays Cruce and Frances Couch Cruce on October 7, 1931. She graduated from West End High School and later graduated from Howard College (Samford) with a degree in Pharmacy. Upon graduation, she worked in the pharmacy at Lloyd Noland Hospital in Fairfield, Alabama.
Barbara had varied interests and enjoyed many hobbies throughout the years. She was an avid reader of mystery books, took cooking and photography classes, volunteered at Birmingham Botanical Gardens in the herb gardens, co-authored a book about cooking with herbs, researched her family genealogy along with her sister, played golf, traveled, did needlework and was in a quilt guild. However, her greatest joy was being grandma to her five grandchildren and GiGi to her six great grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Hugh Larry Sanders, and her youngest daughter, Cindy Harlan Latimer and nephew Eric Mosley. She is survived by her younger sister, Joyce Cruce Mosley, her oldest daughter, Terry Harlan Martin Charlie), five grandchildren, Bre N. Davis (Joseph), Kellon Nipper, Chad Martin (Ginger), Hays Latimer (Meredith) and Jordan Latimer and six great grandchildren, Carter and Bentley Davis, Margaret Anne Latimer and Camden, Emerson and Willa Caite Martin, nieces, Lisa Ulrich (Gary) and Susan Banda (Scott}, great nephews Christopher Ulrich and Cruce Banda and great niece, Isabella Banda.
Barbara was a long time member of Riverchase United Methodist Church and a member of the Joy Sunday School Class. She was residing at Galleria Woods at the time of her passing.
A visitation will be at Riverchase United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1:30 pm. A family graveside service will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Alabama.
