Barbara Nell Sherer

BARBARA “NELL” SHERER, age 83 of Trussville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 7, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Grace Simmons; sisters, Joyce Deason and Carol Lokken; brothers, Wayne Simmons, Paul Simmons, Charles Simmons, Tommy Simmons and her brother Glen Simmons who was killed in Korea; grandson, Josh Copeland; brother-in-law, Carl Sherer; and sister-in-law, Frankie Sue Sherer. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Tom Sherer; daughters, Teri Patterson (Bobby) and Traci Copeland (Jason); grandchildren, Diana Hatchett (Kyle), Taylor Federico (Marc), Ashley Ogletree (Michael) and Makenzie Latham; great-grandchildren, Ellie Grace Ogletree and Amelia Gray Federico; and numerous nieces and nephews. Nell was born in Walker County, AL and grew up there. She was a beloved wife, mother, nana and friend. Nell loved people and will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Birmingham and served faithfully for many years. Her family will celebrate her life with visitation on Thursday, August 11, 2022 from 12-1 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel with her service beginning at 1:00. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Eastside Baptist Church.
